Mid Term Part 2 - Advertisement

Mid Term Part One- Essay

Your sixth sense

Imagine this: you are walking down the street of the busy city struggling to search through your bag for your cell phone, but it is not until you have been searching for a good five minutes through your entire bag that you discover it is at the very bottom, covered by your ipod, computer, pager, and this mornings news paper. As if you are not stressed out enough, the added stress of your extra heavy bag with technology filled equipment adds on. Luckily for you, the future awaits a product that will diminish your stress and put it into a tiny little projector, about the size of a button that includes a computer, cell phone, ipod and camera. This miracle creation is known as the sixth sense. It has the make up of a smartphone, it stores memory, and has easy access to the web. So, instead of carrying an inconvenient bag full of items, simply clip it on to your shirt, and let the projector do its work.

One of the most sufficient and successful techniques used to advertise this product would be emotional branding. This technique will appeal to the consumer and establish a connection between the consumer and the sixth sense. Emotions are a huge part of people’s lives; people feel some sort of emotion everyday, all day long. For example, picture yourself again as the individual walking down the street. In this very moment, your emotions are taking over your body, physically and mentally. You may feel: stress, anger, upset, annoyed, the list goes on. It is guaranteed that every person feels at least one of these emotions everyday. This product will appeal to working teens and adults. It is convenient for both because when you lead a busy lifestyle, you are always on the go; there is no time to stop and think about what you are doing. This marketing technique will greatly impact consumers and be enticing to their emotions, making them have the desire to purchase this product.

Another marketing technique that will have a great affect on consumers is product placement across the media. This product can be shown off by celebrities, and on TV shows. All celebrities would love to have this product with the amount of calls, pictures, and websites they deal with everyday. It can be used to show on TV through any show. In almost every TV show there is a character who owns an excessive amount of technological objects. Instead of carrying a bunch of objects around, it can be simplified into a tiny circular button that can be worn right on your clothes. This can give people a realistic idea of what the product is like by allowing the individual to place themselves in the character on TV’s shoes and visualize themselves with the product.

Overall, I think these two methods would be the most effective and have the greatest result in advertising the product. They both target the consumer in the right way; emotional branding allows for a connection with the consumer, while product placement targets specific people that are basically waiting for advertisements. Another type of advertisement is “cool hunting.” I think this may be successful in advertising this product because the products appears to be “cool” and popular in the media. It is trendy and fashionable, which appeals to young audiences. Inventions like these will have a severe shift in society, and we will begin to see society change. Products like this will allow for better communication because everything is right there in one product. There will be more ways of communicating, which will be better for society.

Myth of the photographic truth part 2

Once the female is taken out of the picture, it sends an entire different message to the viewer. The guy appears to be lonely and depressed. There can be many reasons for his depression; it is up to the viewer to interpret what is going on in his life. According to the myth of the photographic truth, the image we receive is completely different. While in the first picture, two different people looking at it are likely to have the same interpretation, because it is an obvious message being sent. But in this picture, two people may have two completely different interpretations on what is going on in this man's life.

Myth of the photographic truth

When first viewing this whole image, it sends a happy message, of a couple in love with each other. The two look engaged in each others presence, and happy to be with each other. Basically, after viewing this image, you receive a happy vibe, and think only good thoughts about the couple. But, when this image is cropped, it sends an entirely different message to the viewers.

Photoshop as the Medium

2. Photoshop is another technological tool that has advanced our society today. Photoshop is made up of several different contents that create the tool. The main content in my opinion is pictures. There are many options that you can use on the pictures to make them exactly how you want it to look. Some of these options include: dilation, skew, erasers, cropping, fix red-eye, cloning, and healing. These are only some of the many options that can be used on photoshop. The message photoshop gives out is expression. Photoshop makes it so that you can express yourself through images. You are able to create collages in any way that you desire. It sets a standard for people. If you are working on a project, and you are competing against someone else that is using photoshop, they will have more options than you will have. Photoshop has several different tools to help you enhance and express any collage that you would like to make.
