Myth of the photographic truth part 2

Once the female is taken out of the picture, it sends an entire different message to the viewer. The guy appears to be lonely and depressed. There can be many reasons for his depression; it is up to the viewer to interpret what is going on in his life. According to the myth of the photographic truth, the image we receive is completely different. While in the first picture, two different people looking at it are likely to have the same interpretation, because it is an obvious message being sent. But in this picture, two people may have two completely different interpretations on what is going on in this man's life.

Myth of the photographic truth

When first viewing this whole image, it sends a happy message, of a couple in love with each other. The two look engaged in each others presence, and happy to be with each other. Basically, after viewing this image, you receive a happy vibe, and think only good thoughts about the couple. But, when this image is cropped, it sends an entirely different message to the viewers.

Photoshop as the Medium

2. Photoshop is another technological tool that has advanced our society today. Photoshop is made up of several different contents that create the tool. The main content in my opinion is pictures. There are many options that you can use on the pictures to make them exactly how you want it to look. Some of these options include: dilation, skew, erasers, cropping, fix red-eye, cloning, and healing. These are only some of the many options that can be used on photoshop. The message photoshop gives out is expression. Photoshop makes it so that you can express yourself through images. You are able to create collages in any way that you desire. It sets a standard for people. If you are working on a project, and you are competing against someone else that is using photoshop, they will have more options than you will have. Photoshop has several different tools to help you enhance and express any collage that you would like to make.

1. Questions/updates to photoshop original image:

After experimenting with photoshop for the first time, there were still a few things I did not know how to do. I viewed a few blogs, and realized I wanted to learn how to make my image look better. First, I wanted to make my background different. In my original blog, I made the background fade from blue to white, and I had the image of the GPS (in color) on the white side. And I had the contents of the GPS (in black and white) on the blue side. I would like to learn how to create different designs in the background. I saw some other blogs and they had "swirl-like" designs in the background, which I would like to incorporate into my blog. Another thing I would like to change in my blog is the images. I figured out how to rotate images and distort them using the transform key. But I would like to learn how to make my images fade and pop better than they do now. Using the photoshop help tool, I will be able to accomplish these goals.

The Global Positioning System (GPS) has been a beneficial technological breakthrough since the 1980's. It is a system based on a network of 24 satellites that orbit the earth thousands of miles above us. There are several contents put into this system that have changed the lives of many traveling civilians. These contents include: road map, directions, speed limit, distance, approximate arrival time, sound system, alternate routes, and a thermometer. Since searching online for directions, or following a road map is slow and inconvenient, the GPS makes it easy. The only thing you must do is type in the destination of your choice, and it will lay out full directions for you. According to McLuhan, the message the GPS gives has the real effect on society. The GPS causes a shift in technology. People become less and less dependent on their own skills and abilities, and learn to rely on technology. First, there was a change from using a road map to using mapquest online, which give you simple, printable directions. Now, the GPS eliminates both of those options, and just allows you to type in the address of your destination. Also, there has been a shift in communication. Instead of communicating with other people, for example, to get directions to your desired location, the only question you must ask is, "what is the address?" And once you have a response, the conversation is over, and the GPS does the rest of the work from there. The GPS has been beneficial in the fact that it is easy to use and requires basically no work at all, but it is also harmful to society because it makes us very dependent.
